ABOUT US
This Tenants & Residents Association is known as “OMTRA” and was the brainchild of Anne Sills - a resident who was living on Eckington Terrace.
At some point in 1997 Anne became aware that Single Regeneration Budget money was to be made available to local areas to help with improving the living conditions of residents’ and she thought it would be a good idea to apply for some of this money to come into The Meadows.
After speaking with her neighbours, and also leafleting every house on Glapton Road and ‘The Terraces’, a meeting was held in the front room of her house in November 1997.
In this meeting it was unanimously decided that a localised Tenants and Residents Association should be formed to represent the residents’ living on : Glapton Road, The Terraces off Glapton Road, Woolmer Road, Beauvale Road, Wilford Grove, Bathley Street from Wilford Crescent West to Wilford Grove and Holgate Road from Glapton Road to Wilford Grove.

As a result of this decision in early 1998 every household on the above streets was leafleted, by the newly formed ‘OMTRA’, with a survey asking what they would most wish to see done to improve the area. The results of the survey were sent to the City Council, and OMTRA members worked alongside Council Officers who were based at the One Stop Shop for the duration of the SRB Funding project which was a huge undertaking and progressed over a number of years. Top of the survey was better street lighting, which was chosen by residents and security gates. Many other projects followed (see History).
All projects, culminating in gaining Conservation Status for the overall Old Meadows area in 2020, were all OMTRA initiated as a result of continued consultations with local residents.
OMTRA is an entirely independent group of volunteers who give their time freely for the benefit of residents and the area.
