OMTRA's Annual General Meeting took place on 21st November 2023.
The committee was represented by:
Simon Allen - Treasurer
John Crosby - Committee Member
Michael Macleod - Committee Member
In addition to residents, Police, CPOs and Councillors were in attendance.
Police - Karl Browne
Overall, Karl felt that we are “in a good position” in terms of crime in the Meadows. Crime is “fairly low across the board”. The Meadows is apparently the “second lowest crime area in the city”.
A report was shared and subsequently emailed around. Posted Separately.
A resident noted that 121 WCW has been “tinned up”.
Closure is being sought, which is expected to be successful.
"Cuckooing" has been found to be occurring in the Meadows, which is where a vulnerable person’s property is taken over for drug dealing.
Community Protection - Richard Arnold and Lewis Seyfert
Camera at the top of Glapton Road has helped with fly tipping.
Some results have been had from the camera on the corner of Wilford Grove / Holgate Road too.
There is ASB at Mundella Park. Adults using the space inappropriately. Doesn’t get locked. Used to be locked by members of the community.
A resident reported that another resident was looking for support with the Attercliffe – Barnsley Terrace alleyway.
Discussed the potential to make use of intelligence to give warnings, even where evidence isn’t definitive.
Councillors – Michael Edwards and Eunice Regan
Eunice Regan shared a report in paper format, which can be seen here: https://michaelmedwards.wordpress.com/2023/11/21/omtra-agm-2023/
Additional comments included:
Cameras are doing well. Cut down the impact of tipping quite a bit.
Call 101 / contact CPOs for alleyway issues.
Emergency services “responded well” to the fire at the sub station on Doncaster Terrace. Other outages over the weekend have prompted questions.
Council officers want to have a look at the application on former Collygate School site; questions about the advice they have received about the necessity for elevation.
There will be a Christmas tree.
Regarding toilets and the paddling pool:
· There will be a toilet in memorial gardens (which will need to be managed).
· There are issues to work through with the toilet at café (being blocked).
· Toilets are also available at football pavilion.
· Would still like a toilet block at the paddling pool but costs keep rising.
FOML - Jackie Le Huquet
Library will be 100 years old March 2025. Collecting memories in a book. There are forms on the library counter.
Election
Elections took place with the following members elected to the following positions:
· Chair – Mary Cameron
· Secretary – Pat Greenwell
· Treasurer – Simon Allen
Cllr Edwards chaired the election. The above were nominated, seconded and voted in.
Auditing of Accounts
No objection to the change to the constitution to remove the requirement for auditing of accounts by an external auditor. Advice had been received by Senior Resident Development Officer (South) that this was not necessary, given the size of OMTRA funds (less than £1000 in the bank and no regular income).
Residents expressed concerns about 118 Wilford Grove. CPOs took note.
CPOs were also aware of a report about rubbish accumulating in a front garden on Beauvale Road. A notice had been issued.
